I decided to document the various window displays for out-of-town folks to see and as a 'Thank you!' for the owners of the garments and other items that are used in this way. (I've got more pics hiding somewhere although not all the displays were documented.)

The very first window was 'Westward Expansion - circa 1840'
Unfortunately, I was busy with the opening and never took pictures of it. I'll try to find some pictures of the dress, at least ....

Medieval Norse - 1100-1400ce
from the wardrobes of Duke Sir Steingrim Stallari and Master Ellisif Angantyrsdottir

You can _almost_ see the banners and miscellaneous stuff we dressed the display with ...

linen gown with wool overgown

lacing under arm

embroidery at neck

wool coat with white rabbit-fur cuffs

front neck

front hem ----------- under arm venting.
On right, dark lines on 'white' are overwhipping on seams of garment underneath

knee/calf-length tunic and pants under coat

embroidery at neck

cuff detail

World War II - late 1930s-1940s
Didn't take pictures of the rest of the display (Why? Dunno...) but there were also a hand-crocheted bedcover, a small-square patchwork quilt, a Singer 99k, and various books and things...

original uniform worn by James Weldon Collins during WWII

made from a Vintage Vogue pattern re-print from 1939 (made by Brenna in about 2002)

interesting detail on the shoulder shaping

Okay, so it's a size 14 dress pinned in to fit a size 8 dummie....it still shows a relatively simple back.
