| Solid colors are suitable for all periods and classes; stripes and plaids were frequently found in lower and middle class wear. Upper classes usually relied on applied embellishments or brocaded fabrics (and sometimes both!) for spiffing things up. The numbering system we use starts at 1 for the lightest weight in that fiber and gets heavier from there. Thus, in the wools, Twill #1 is good for hosen and summerwear, Crepe #2 and Twill #2 are roughly the same weight but in different weaves, and any wools #4 or #5 would be good for cloaks. The rest of the fibers are reckoned similarly. My apologies.... I'm slowly but surely getting everything scanned, tweaked and uploaded. If a category isn't available yet, please have patience and feel free to email us saying what you need and we'll see what we can do. Also - we have the "cabbage" basket - various short lengths up to 2 yards - all usually 1/3 off regular price. Sold by whole piece only. Ask what's currently available..... |
